Intralogistics Project Consulting Oldenhage

Go Mobile Step 1

In 2007 I participated in a project which changed the major parts of the internal logistic operations at a customer from paper-based to online. This included the initiation of a W-LAN in all 350 hubs globally, the selection of mobile devices and the decision which IT solution to go for.

The Working methods were adjusted, the global education was planned and the complete roll out was supported.

Go Mobile Step 2

In 2011 the same company added the final missing step in the mobile solution, the customer order picking process. In this second step we supported during the first prototype developments and pilot phases.

Manage Information

This project was a bit further away from the operational warehousing topic. In 2012 a fundamental re-do of the master data management around packaging was needed. I drove the development of processes and software to combine the company’s requirement management with the data registration performed by suppliers.

Once the base was set, I initiated the integration of the collected data in the IT landscape.

Full automation

Increasing volumes require new ways of thinking. In 2017 I did the process analysis and requirement design for a full automated warehouse. The warehouse is capable to receive full pallets and to perform part picks from those pallets.

Stay up to date

2018 I joint as the main requirement manager in a project which had the task to move an extremely successful but totally outdated WMS system to an up-to-date level.

Old text-based user interfaces and batch-based logics were changed into modern Web interfaces with near real time data updates. The check against the wishes from the end users and the requirements from risk and compliance were two of the main topics.

Drone implementation

2020 I joined a project which has the goal to use drones for the stock accuracy checks in the Warehouse. Same as in previous projects i joined the team as the requirement lead.
There were three drone suppliers one the customer’s shortlist. It was not very clear in the beginning what precisely shall be achieved by the drones, but the customer saw a huge potential in this in a variety of business cases.

After one year of preparation, starting with expectation management over process mapping until final pilot installations the supplier decision was taken, the first deployments were done and the hypercare period slowly came to an end. Details can be found in the Blog.
